Helping you make informed eye care and eyewear decisions for more than 20 years
Caring for your eyes and vision is an essential part of modern life, but it can be hard to make sense of medical terminology, product options and conflicting advice. For more than two decades, readers like you have trusted All About Vision to point them in the right direction.
Our mission: To help you understand eye and vision well-being with trustworthy, easy-to-read and up-to-date information about the topics that matter most to you.
All About Vision was launched in January 2000 by a group of individuals who had been involved in eye care journalism since the 1970s. Today, we’re proud to be the largest online resource for visual health and wellness, turning evidence-based medical information into engaging content for millions of readers across 25 global markets and 16 languages.
We double-verify the medical accuracy of every article.
The internet is no stranger to iffy health advice. That’s why All About Vision content is often written and reviewed by licensed optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians and other health care professionals.
Before publishing, each article is fact-checked for accuracy by at least one eye doctor or member of our editorial staff. The information you see in each article is gathered primarily from vetted, authoritative sources, such as:
National and global health organizations, such as the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Authoritative eye doctor associations, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Optometric Association (AOA).
Medical journals, optical publications and/or peer-reviewed studies, such as The Lancet, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the Review of Optometry.
Leading accredited universities, such as Harvard Health (Harvard University), Stanford Health (Stanford University) and Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan).
Anything you learn on All About Vision — from eye health information to knowledge that helps you better understand your vision — is medically and scientifically sound.
How we choose content
When we decide which topics to cover, we try to put ourselves in your shoes.
Our editorial team is always plugged in to the world of eye care. We consider hundreds of eye- and vision-related subjects each week and focus on the ones that offer the most value to the reader.
We cover the “big” topics — think sunglasses, blurry vision or pink eye — without losing sight of industry breakthroughs or lesser-known (but equally important) concerns.
Once each topic is selected, an article is methodically researched and written by an eye doctor, staff writer or contributor. These content creators are hand-picked for their ability to shape complex medical information into simplified content with pinpoint accuracy.
